Desktop Computing Project
Information Technology manages the university-wide Desktop Computing Project, which provides full-time faculty and staff with a desktop computer or laptop for general productivity use. Devices are replaced on a four-year rotation based on departmental schedules. Computers that no longer meet the minimum standard are upgraded according to the department’s upgrade cycle.
Departments eligible for new computers under the Desktop Computing Project are those that qualify for HEAF funding. Departments not eligible may purchase new computers or laptops using their own budgets. Adjunct faculty and part-time staff also have access to PCs as determined by their unit leadership. Networked departmental laser printers are provided, while individual user printers are funded by the respective unit’s budget.
All university-provided computers come with a standardized set of applications and hardware configurations for faculty and staff.
