This message is sent from the Office of the Provost to all UHD faculty.

Dear University Community,
I am writing to let you know that we are in the process of restructuring and re-imagining
our Continuing Education office, including new leadership and staff. Continuing Education
organizes and hosts our summer programs for school kids as well as many non-academic
programs aimed at adult learners in our community, such as paralegal training, wine
tasting, and many others. This office has tremendous potential for providing value
to the community and to UHD, both, and I am committed to realizing that potential
with a strong Continuing Education team.
I am pleased to announce that Zoe F. Smith has been appointed as the Interim Executive
Director of Continuing Education at the University of Houston-Downtown. Zoe brings
with her over 15 years of industry experience and a strong background in human resources,
consulting, and change management.
Her extensive expertise in staff development, project management, and vendor management,
combined with her experience at UHD, winning the Outstanding Adjunct Award in Spring
2026, and most recently serving as Assistant Director of the Center for Career and
Professional Development, positions her well to lead our Continuing Education initiatives.
Zoe's commitment to fostering lifelong learning and her proven track record in creating
practices and procedures will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our offerings
for the community.
Please join me in welcoming Zoe to her new role. We look forward to her leadership
and the positive impact she will have on our continuing education programs.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Davis
Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost
